SURVEY Osoyoos Resort Development Strategy Deadline February 8
Tourism plays a key role in Osoyoos’ economy through tourism tax revenues, employment, and economic diversification. Osoyoos is one of the 14 resort communities that are part of the provincial government's Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) program, managed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. The RMI program is intended to assist small, tourism-based municipalities to support and increase visitation by providing project funding that results in increased resort activities and amenities, employment in the community and municipal tax revenue.
All RMI communities are required to complete a Resort Development Strategy (RDS), which identifies the long term vision for the community and what the resort municipality plans to do to achieve outcomes that support this vision and the objectives of the RMI program. The RDS should also outline how RMI projects align with the community's overall development goals.
The Town of Osoyoos’ RMI Goals are:
- To develop visitor amenities that promote world class quality visitor experiences and complement and enrich residents’ quality of life.
- To create memorable visitor experiences through programs and services that promote community values, showcase unique environmental landscapes and reflect the culture of the region.
- To explore affordable housing alternatives that enable the tourism industry to access a stable workforce and promote a healthy community.
- To explore transportation systems that assist with tourism development.
Past RMI funded projects have included Gyro Park washroom, concession and plaza improvements, marina upgrades and the creation, paving and lighting of the Canal Trail, Goodman Park washroom and purchase of beach cleaner.
We are currently in the process of developing our Resort Development Strategy to cover the next three year RMI funding term (2019/20 to 2021/22), and are looking for the community's input on tourism development and ideas for RMI projects. Please take 10 minutes to complete this survey and provide us with your ideas.
SURVEY DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS FEBRUARY 8 @ 4:00PM.

Thank you to everyone who has already completed the survey. Your input is greatly appreciated and will be incorporated into the upcoming 2019/20 to 2021/22 Resort Municipality Initiative planning process.
