Increased Traffic on Highways 3 and 97
Pedestrian Safety Notice

The Town of Osoyoos anticipates a large increase in commercial and passenger vehicle traffic through Town when Highway 3 west of Town reopens. The continued closure of the TransCanada (Hwy 1) and Coquihalla (Hwy 5) highways will result in much increased vehicular traffic through Town.

Drivers and pedestrians are urged to be safe and keep in mind that large commercial vehicles cannot stop or maneuver as fast as a passenger vehicle. While traffic volumes are high local traffic is encouraged to use off Main Street travel routes.

Commercial vehicle drivers and others are reminded that vehicles with trailers and motorhomes (motorhomes may park on streets for not more than 2 hours while doing business in Town) are not permitted to park on Town streets. Off street parking for commercial and recreational vehicles is limited in Osoyoos and drivers should plan their routes and stops in advance.

Please avoid non-essential travel and follow any travel restrictions the Province may impose under the provincial state of emergency.

For any individuals impacted by flooding that need assistance, please contact the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen's Emergency Social Services Team at https://emergency.rdos.bc.ca/ess or by calling 250-486-1890.
